Volunteer Children's Befriender

This opportunity takes place from 30 Sep 2020

Govan HELP will train & support Volunteer Befrienders to offer individual befriending support to children ages 7-12 years of age. Contact will be weekly for 2-3 hours a week for a minimum of six months. The Befriender will help the child to access leisure, sport or community activities, helping to improve the child's confidence, self-esteem and reduce their social isolation. We will support you to fulfil your role by offering you a comprehensive Induction and ongoing training package, regular and ongoing individual and group support & supervision to ensure you are comfortable in your role as a Befriender, undertake your PVG (police check) free of charge, and pay travel and activity expenses. What You would Gain - you would be doing something worthwhile and give a child a helping hand, increase skills, increase experience in social care and work with a valued and respected Charity, improve CV and employ-ability and meet new people.

Yes, monthly as well as ongoing communication. This will cover expenses and also discuss how the volunteer befriender is getting on, positive aspects, challenges, child protection, confidentiality, training opportunities and anything else volunteer wishes to discuss
