LGBT+ Rep Job Role

LGBT+ Rep

The LGBT+ Rep promotes inclusivity on campus, is a spokesperson for all students that define as LGBT+. The Rep sits on the Strathclyde Students’ Union Equality and Diversity Committee. The LGBT+ Rep directly reports to the Vice President Inclusion and works closely together with the Student Exec and the LGBT+ society on campaigns concerning LGBT+ students.

The Rep must self-define as an LGBT+ student enrolled at Strathclyde University.

Term: March 2022 to March 2023
Honorarium: £600 (paid in instalments at end of Semester 1 and Semester 2)
Time Commitment: approx. 3 hours per week during semester


This role will:

  1. Represent the voice of LGBT+ students within the Union
  2. Identify issues relevant to LGBT+ students.
  3. Canvass LGBT+ students’ opinion to be aware of common problems and concerns and where these exist ensure that Union Executive Committee/ Student Parliament are made aware of these.
  4. Run campaigns related to LGBT+ student issues.
  5. Ensure that the needs of LGBT+ students are reflected through the activities of the Union.
  6. Attend all relevant training, conferences and conventions that are relevant to the remit of this position.


An honorarium will be awarded when:

  1. The rep led a campaign/project that champions LGBT+ students’ issues on campus
  2. Reports are submitted to every Equality & Diversity Committee in the semester
  3. The rep has attended Student Parliament or provided an appropriate reason for non-attendance
