I'm Naana Boadiwa Daaku and I'm a Master student studying International law and Sustainable development. Swimming brings me much joy alongside Music and meeting new people. I'm running to be your next Sport & Wellbeing Officer as I want to use the role to campaign for and bring in policies that will benefit both the Sport union and the entire student body. I am Confident, outgoing and honest. I am passionate about becoming sports officer and will be committed to making the sport union better for everyone. Mental Health Care in Sport As Sports and wellbeing Officer I would like to develop a mental health role for each sports-team's committee. This would help combat the stigma surrounding mental health that is present in both students and sportspersons. I'd like to offer training to clubs and committees in order to make it easier to speak up about health issues and to enable teams to better support their players and members. This would help teams link up with the Student Support and Wellbeing Service As your next Sport & Wellbeing Officer I will ensure the following • Increasing club’s engagement and Promoting the profile of the Sports Union, and general sporting activities, amongst the student body. • Develop an effective strategy for increasing participation in, and widening access to, all sporting and physical activities. • Organise & Coordinate the work of Sports Union committees, including the AGM. • Promotion and awareness raising of relevant health and wellbeing issues • Ensure that those who are running clubs receive the information, and training that they need to run the clubs effectively. • Organise and coordinate the annual Sports Fair, and other appropriate events throughout the year. • ensuring clubs utilise sports volunteering opportunities offered by the University and its business partners.
