Candidate for the position of Faculty Rep Business
Hello everyone!
My name is Rostyslav Sergiyenko (Ross), and I am running for the Business School Representative Role! As a postgraduate student in SBS (MSc International Management) from Ukraine, I have something to offer to all Business School students.
Strathclyde Business School is an outstanding institution in the heart of Glasgow, which attracts many exceptional students from all around the world. The pillars of my initiative to run for this position were: previous experience in representing students, the possibility created by the university for actual improvement, and the ideas for this improvement on this position.
First of all, I want to be your representative — the one who can always help you with any problem or inconvenience which may occur through this year. I am here to help and represent your ideas to the higher management of the Business School or Strathclyde Union. My original intention is to address the induction and course experience for international students here. There are also some secondary aims which I want to highlight:
1) catalyse practical side of collaborative events with industry representatives -> more skill-oriented workshops for students who wish to work for companies in Scotland;
2) collaborate with class representatives for creating the International Student Handbook;
3) stimulate the library for purchasing contemporary business literature for extra-curriculum reading;
4) stimulate a partnership between Harvard Business Review and the University of Strathclyde for easy access materials (or discounted price);
5) encourage the university to distribute free magazines such as the Financial Times.
