Candidate for the position of NUS Scotland Conference Delegate
Ru Wallace for NUS Scotland Delegate
My name is Ru Wallace, I am a student and an activist. I want to be one of your NUS Scotland Delegates this year as I feel it is extremely important that our views and needs as students are represented on this level for positive change to happen.
The current climate disaster we face is one of, if not the most concerning issues affecting our future, and as students, we have a unique opportunity, and even an obligation to ensure that we work to mitigate its effects, and even reverse the damage that has been done to the climate. To this end, I would do my best make sure that the issue is kept as a key factor in discussion at conference. The NUS actively campaigns for a sustainable future and we can make sure that the direction of that campaign is inclusive and effective.
It is vital that this discussion keeps in mind the need for an intersectionalist mindset, and therefore a recognition of the inbuilt discrimination across our society. As one of your delegates I would go out and listen to all points of view, and hear what issues you face, as we can only effect meaningful positive change if we take into account the challenges faced by all parts of society.
If you vote for me as one of your delegates I would aim to be an accountable and effective representative of Strathclyde students.
