Candidate for the position of LGBT+ Rep
Fighting for your rights at Strathclyde!
Hi, my name is Vinny, and I’m running for LGBT+ Rep again! Since October, I’ve helped run and organise LGBT+ History Month, passed student policy that allows students to use any gendered facility that fits the individual’s gender identity, and started the Ask Don’t Assume pronoun awareness campaign. But there is so much more I want to achieve to improve the wellbeing of LGBT+ students at Strathclyde.
As LGBT+ Rep, I will:
?Work with Strathclyde to promote the Mind Your Own Business policy over campus, and work to increase the number of gender neutral facilities.
- Work with D&W Service to offer counselling and support for students who need support regarding LGBT+ related issues.
Push for thorough LGBT+ training for Staff, and start a solidarity network for LGBT+ staff and student.
?- Push for frequent and up-to-date training on how staff can assist LGBT+ students.
- Start a support network for LGBT+ staff and students to help support and include each party’s voices in a university setting.
Continue campaigning for pronoun awareness with Ask, Don't Assume.
Continue campaigning around the union, to spread awareness of asking for pronouns and help fight purposeful misgendering and transphobia.
Campaign for Non-Union university staff to start wearing pronoun stickers/badges to promote awareness.
