Hello everyone,

As both class rep and department rep in the faculty of engineering, I have first-hand experience with many of the problems and inefficiencies in the current system. As your faculty rep, I would fix as many of them as possible - having already made progress with some as department rep.

My priority is to make representation within the faculty simpler and more effective, and to significantly decrease the time between problem and solution.

I will accomplish this by increasing the support for - and collaboration between - class and department reps, and by actively liaising with the Union, Staff and Students for better communication.

Here is a quick overview of my immediate plans:

1. Strengthen the support and information available to class reps
2. Enhance collaboration and communication between reps to address wider changes
3. Increased communication by liaising and working with both Union and Departmental Staff
4. Establish measures to increase information backflow to students about matters raised [currently ongoing]
5. Introduction of more frequent class rep/year adviser meetings to increase the effectiveness of Student-Staff Committee Meetings and reduce time-lag between issues and solutions
6. Investigate simplification of certain procedures - such as the process for assigning class reps on MyPlace - to make them more efficient and more beneficial
