Scott Reeves

Put the U in University again.

My name is Scott Reeves and I currently study History and Politics and International relations. I am running for election to provide students with an effective and determined representation, tackling issues present today.

More support for school leavers – Leaving school and coming to university is daunting because you are not supplied with enough resources helping you with academic essays or assignments. If elected, I will ensure to advocate first year as a transition into university structure by contacting faculty heads alerting them of this issue and ensuring the support and guidance for school leavers who do not understand the tasks provided.

Hall residences support – Right now student in halls are feeling extremely isolated from the rest of society due to this horrific virus causing mental health issues to increase. If elected I promise to implement welfare structures ensuring students feel positive about their experiences by introducing care packages (including daily essentials) and socially distanced socials.

Non-Scottish students Tuition discount – Before now universities would argue online learning is not the same as campus learning, whats changed? I will tell you! Non-Scottish students are paying excessive amounts of funds for a Zoom call. If elected, I vow to fight against whoever I need to get non-Scottish students discounted fee because nobody and I mean nobody should be paying the tuition rates for a Zoom call. I will execute this by meeting and e-mailing heads of Strathclyde university and advocating this through MSP’s and the SNP’s cabinet.
