Candidate for the position of Halls Rep
My name is Saul and I am a first year Civil Engineering student currently staying at Andrew Ure Hall. My priorities as Halls rep are as follows:
Campaign to lower the cost of washing and drying clothes.
Currently laundry costs are high and creates a problem when wishing to wash certain items separately such as whites or towels. The result is that often students wash all items together which can lead to not washing some things properly or ruining items of clothing. A lower cost would enable students to wash their clothes as recommended.
Make it known across all halls that you can check the status of washing machines and driers on the circuit laundry website.
I have spoken to people who have taken their laundry outside to the laundry building only to find that all machines are in use. It is clearly not yet common knowledge that you can check which machines are free whilst still in your flat.
When possible, arrange more social activities for students in halls.
It is not everyone that will become friends with their flatmates but there is a good chance that within your accommodation there will be people that you get on well with – you just need the opportunity to meet them! I would also like to arrange social events between halls to increase the chances of making new friends.
If you think that my priorities would make living in halls a better experience, then please vote for me.
