Sean Jamieson

Part time study, full time experience.

Hi, my name is Sean Jamieson and I am running to be the part time student rep. I’m currently a postgrad student studying a Post Graduate Certificate in Economic policy Development. I think it is important that students studying part time are given a full time experience at Strathclyde. I would use my position to make sure that part time student’s voices are heard within the Union and that their needs are met.

As someone who works full time, I know how difficult it can be to make sure that you make class with other daily pressures. It is key that part time students are able to have the best access to facilitates on and off campus and as the part time student rep I would strive to ensure:

  • as much material is made online as possible;
  • the library is made as accessible as possible regardless of working hours;
  • lectures are recorded and easily accessible online;
  • awareness of financial support available to students is increased; as well as
  • raising the possibility with the University of creating a family study lounge, similar to what is offered in other universities to allow students with children the ability to study and use library facilities with their children more effectively.
