Better Strathclyde for a better present

Who am I?

I’m Ashwet, a PGT student studying MSc Systems Engineering Management. I am from the tiny state of Goa on the west coast of India. When I’m not studying,  you’ll find me walking in the parks of Glasgow, training for a half marathon and experimenting with fusion cooking.

Why am I running for Faculty Rep - Engineering?

I’m currently the programme rep for MSc Systems Engineering Management. Aiding my classmates to overcome obstacles we’ve faced made has me realise the importance of having a good representative. Someone who is friendly, easy to approach and genuinely wants to help. I believe I am this person & want to take it further.

My Goals

  • Equal representation: Ensure all students, feel adequately represented when it comes to their concerns. No one should feel alone and helpless when it comes to their education.
  • Better socials: Starting a new course and not seeing your peers can be an isolating experience. Having more opportunities to meet them (face-to-face or virtually) is essential to make university more enjoyable. This is something we have been discussing at length as programme reps.
  • Effective Learning: The 2020-21 cohort have been a trial run for online learning, resulting in good and bad experiences. I will endeavour to promote actions to improve learning across the board given that the online mode of delivery will be prominent going forward.

I want to guarantee that you cherish your experience at Strathclyde for the rest of your life!
