Standing Up for Student Democracy - Your Voice on the StrathUnion Board of Trustees.

These elections are crucial. With major changes coming to our Student Union over the next couple of years such as the proposed move to the new Union building - it is important, now more than ever, that student voices are heard on the StrathUnion Board of Trustees. I am the candidate that will stand up and be your voice.

As a President of a Society at StrathUnion I think it is disgraceful that there is still no clear commitment to dedicated bookable rooms in our new union building. When year on year the number of Clubs and Societies continue to grow. This needs to be on the agenda - sooner rather than later, and I will work with our talented Student Executive to ensure that the Board exerts its maximum influence on the University to resolve this.

Furthermore, I am a firm believer in Student Democracy and as our Student Parliament voted for a referendum on the issue of moving the Student Union, last year, I think that it is important that our Board of Trustees ensures that is respected and acted upon. As they should all votes of Student Parliament. So that all Students can have their say on such a vital issue. Realistically we are running out of time to express our view - I will ensure this issue is not kicked into the long grass.

Finally I will say this, if elected, I shall champion Student voices, Student democracy and the incredible work of our Student Executive. It is time to stand up and be counted, we have one of the most democratic Student Union’s in Scotland, let us protect that - and importantly use it to the benefit of all Students.
