Candidate for the position of International Students' Rep
Infinite stories, many cultures, one community
The Earth is not oval anymore and is becoming flatter each day.
Before anyone assumes that I am a part of the infamous conspiracy gang, let me clear it up. We have gone past the time when we put national interests above global ones. Today, everybody represents a worldwide unified culture, and students migrating to different countries for education have played a vital role in enabling that.
I am Ishan Babel, an MSc International Management student and your potential International Students' Representative for the year 2023. As a new migrant here in the UK, I have noticed that usually international students tend to mingle among themselves only and that keeps them away from absolute exposure to the local culture, Scottish in our case. If elected, a few of the areas I intend to work in are:
International students constitute about a quarter of the total student population in the UK and it's about time we bring the community into focus and work towards its welfare. There is a reason why Strathclyde is so internationally friendly, thanks to the amazing work done by the previous and current stakeholders. It is highly important for anyone elected, even if not me, to keep on continuing healthy practices, that's part of the culture here already.
