My time at Strathclyde would not be the same without the Sports Union. For the past 4 years, I have been a devoted member of women’s basketball, undertaking several committee positions - team captain, vice-president and currently club president.

As this year’s Sports Executive Awards Officer I have worked closely with the current VP Sport, Ronan, gaining an insight into the role and the responsibilities required to be a successful candidate.

Additionally, I am participating in the Scottish Student Sport Leadership Programme; weekly masterclasses discussing the different aspects and characteristics which contribute to being an effective leader - skills which will no doubt be beneficial as VP Sport.  

If elected, I aim to: 

• Improve and assist with club development by conducting a review of committee training making it more club-relevant and to create a handover toolkit to prevent loss of knowledge between old and new committees

• Secure more funding opportunities for participating in Sports Union activities by re-establishing the participation fund

• Promote donation of old sports clothes to create a kit bank for students to take from free of charge, providing a more sustainable and affordable way of participating in physical activity 

• Increase participation and inclusion of non Sports Union members by promoting the StrathActive programme and diversifying the activities 

• Improve relationship between Sports Union and Student’s Union; securing more sponsorship opportunities for clubs
