Candidate for the position of Vice President Welfare
Help will always be given to those Who ask for it...
Hi, I would like to propose....
Raising Awareness: I will work to raise awareness of mental health issues and the resources available to students and staff on campus, like creating and distributing educational materials, hosting events and making sure anonymity is key to allow confidence to be built among us.
Reducing Stigma: I recognize that mental health is often stigmatized and misunderstood, leading to reluctance to seek help. I will work to minimize Stigma by encouraging open and honest conversations about mental health, address bullying faced in private or if its blatantly obvious and ensure services which are available by Govt. And NGOs in the most discreet manner as possible if its outside the scope of the Union.
Advocating for Change: I recognize that there are systemic issues that can contribute to poor mental health, such as academic stress, financial strain, and social isolation. I will work to advocate for changes in university policies and practices that can help reduce these stressors and promote mental health.
I understand that Mental Health is a very sensitive topic and its quite personal to all those who suffer from it. Those who may seem absolutely fine may be among the worst suffering victims. I intend to be very serious about my role as an Welfare VP for Strath Union and as someone who has a mental health education background, I will give my utmost commitment to it. Thank you.
Regards Sid
