Candidate for the position of Faculty Rep Humanities and Social Sciences Postgraduate Research
Committed to being a voice for all
I am proud to say that I have been at Strathclyde since 2017 when I started my undergraduate degree. Since then, through undergraduate, MSc and now on my PhD, I have always taken a keen interest in helping to support my fellow students to improve our Strathclyde experience.
As a former student representative in both history and politics at undergraduate I was delighted to take the thoughts, concerns and suggestions of those around me to staff student liaison meetings to ensure our voices were heard. Now, as both the PGR student rep for history and a DRG HaSS Faculty Rep, I am particularly interested in helping to create a thriving, diverse and supportive community among my peers across the PGR landscape. I am currently part of the DRG Equality, Diversity and Inclusion team and have a particular interest in understanding the needs of researchers from a widening access background, having come through that route to Strathclyde myself. My research project, which is looking into the lived experiences of diaspora communities in Glasgow through culinary culture, also means I am keen to better understand, and help improve, the circumstances of international students and of students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Taking up this position, in line with my other commitments, would be a great source of pride for me and I hope to work with everyone in the PGR community to make our experience here at Strathclyde as positive as possible.
