Candidate for the position of Democracy Convenor
Balance the scale; social equality for all!
I have been privileged to be engaged in active volunteer work for over 5 years and one skill I have consciously picked up is EMPATHY. Volunteer work requires a level of compassion to and humility in serving other people’s needs; basically, putting them first.
The word “democracy” literally implies ‘a system in which the people are the ones in charge’. Although, ‘the people’ cannot directly all be in the representative position, whoever gets the privilege to be is not a boss but “a deputy to the people” because the people are actually the ones in charge.

My name is Praise Ojumu (MSc Education Studies) and I am running for the position of the Democracy Convenor. If given the privilege to serve in this position, I intend to wield my experience in active volunteer engagements to seek social equality for the students of Strathclyde in how the union is run.
