No more dilemmas with a vote for Emma!

Hello, I’m Emma!

Alongside my Undergrad and Masters in Law here at Strath, I have also been involved in societies and activism on campus for a good few years now!!

Overall, my primary goal is to make student welfare what the Union is all about. To do this, students need to be aware of the support that is available to them, how to access it and feel empowered to do so. Each of my manifesto pledges works towards this goal, with the focus being on a single point of access for welfare services and support, in addition to the advice hub.

Through this, I want to tackle issues from mental health to sexual health, along with all other welfare issues students are currently facing, such as housing and the cost-of-living crisis.

HOUSING

  • Take forward and expand the work of the Union on housing and protect students from ongoing accommodation crisis.

MENTAL HEALTH

  • Improve wait times for University mental health and support services and ensure there is a commitment to protecting and growing them.
  • More opportunities for groups who often find integrating at University more difficult, such as mature students, those with care responsibilities, international students, commuting students and those with long-term challenges.

SAFEGUARDING

  • Campaign for more on-campus sexual health support, such as drop-in testing.
  • Ensure there is continued work to support survivors of Sexual Assault, Harassment and Domestic Violence.
  • Look at providing more welfare support via societies, such as introducing Welfare Officers and more training.
