Candidate for the position of President
Your Values, Your Vision, Your Voice
Hi Everyone!
My name is Arran Lamont and I am running for the position of Strath Union President!
I've been part of Strath Union for a while, initially as a class rep (and patron of John Street) and then faculty rep before serving as Vice President Education over the last year!
Here's my manifesto:
1. Ensuring responsible growth of student numbers - Whilst it's great to see the Strathclyde community continuing to grow year-on-year we have to recognise that this is unsustainable without significant investment in our facilities, our wellbeing services and housing provisions.
Glasgow University have agreed to manage their numbers so why can't we?
2. Working to secure permanent spaces for our faith and cultural societies to ensure that everyone has a place to call home at Strath Union.
3. Lecture Recordings - Over the last year I've done a lot of work with the University to develop our approach to lecture recordings. I want to work with our VP Education to see this rolled out across the University.
4. Establishing the Higher Education Attainment Record (HEAR) - Improving your graduation transcripts to capture all forms of extracurricular achievement including awards, volunteering and involvement with clubs and societies. I began working on this as VP Education and want to continue this work next year.
