Equal emotional and financial experiences at Strathclyde for all students

Hello, my name is Chloe-Louise Burns. I am a final year student studying psychology at the University of Strathclyde, Treasurer of the Psychology Society and I am an estranged student. Like many students at Strathclyde, I have first-hand experience of learning to balance my studies, my finances and my personal life without family support. To raise awareness of this, I have attended conferences at Scottish parliament and founded the Estranged Students of Strathclyde (ESoS) society at my university. This means I am well experience in acting as a liaison between staff and students, engaging in active discussions and helping influence policy making at this level. These skills I would utilise if elected as a conference delegate. If elected, I plan to:

- Engage with prior reading on motions and policies on the agenda, to ensure the best possible vote for the student body at Strathclyde.

- Support the policies for estranged students as decided during the panel I attended by Stand Alone, including funding and support similar to care experienced students, and adjustment to SAAS to ensure that the most vulnerable aren’t the ones leaving with the most debt.

- Openly support and vote for the passing of policies and leaders that will lead to the most improvement for the vulnerable groups of Strathclyde.
