Kicking Ass for HaSS - Vote Benn #1

My name is Benn Rapson. I'm a 3rd Year Politics Student. I am President of two student societies (Red Strathclyde and StrathWiki) as well as the Campaigns Officer of the LGBT+ Society.  I'm also an active political campaigner both on and off campus.

I'm standing to be the Humanities and Social Science (HaSS) Faculty Rep with a bold set of policies to make every HaSS Students day a little easier:

  • I aim to introduce a 3-week turnaround for all HaSS coursework.
  • I will ensure that helpful and productive feedback is returned for all graded assignments.
  • I aim to introduce lecture recording for students in difficult situations.
  • I will ensure that HaSS adopts a compassionate approach to dealing with personal circumstances.
  • I aim to introduce a Mental Health Guarantee in any future Student Partnership Agreement (SPA).
  • I will ensure that Mental Health is a core consideration of the Education Committee going forward.

As a democratic socialist with a strong belief in the principle of popular sovereignty, I believe in enfranchising students and ensuring they have the maximum possible voice. If the proposals of the Strath Union Democracy Review are passed, I will use my seat at Student Parliament to represent the views of those in the room unable to vote - ensuring they are always heard.
