Strathclyde debates welcomes you to an event, that if you're familiar with "crooked media" should be recognisable. The evening after the debate (as it happens at 2am GMT which is too much for most people) we'll host a recording of the debate and our committee and viewers will have complete control over when we pause the speeches of the candidates to give a side note or comment. we'll hopefully have some other things available to lighten the mood like a bingo sheet and drinking games (alcohol not required).
Trump and Biden aren't our first thoughts when we consider "the ideal of rhetorical debate" with the lies, conspiracies and overt racism from the GOP candidate and the tactless, tone deaf blunders that betray the earlier record of Biden.
This first debate should function both as an examination of the worst elements of the trump presidency (of the last 6 months at least) as well as a scrutiny of its future trajectory. American politics is often spectacular and horrific we can expect many gaffs and frustrations. with gross human rights abuses happening on the southern border, a fifth of a million dead from Covid, an economy in ruins and the rise of authoritarianism in response to peaceful protests there's a lot in the current political moment.
So even if American politics is too depressing and you think you know nothing, we'll endevour to provide you with excellent company and introductory insight.
