We run events year-round where you can let loose, let go, just throw a couple shapes and put your skills on show.

What's occurring?

This is an opportunity to help those most in-need here, in Glasgow, & internationally, in Malawi. Plus you can use the opportunity to have a wee clear-out & get some volunteering hours in!

There are many different ways to get involved:

Strathclyde Foodbank Society

Glasgow NE Trussell Trust

Any non-perishable foods are welcomed. The items currently most needed are: UHT milk, diluting juice, tinned fish, powdered potato, shampoo, tinned fruit, tinned ham & dog food.

Strath Mary’s Meals

Backpack project for children attending Mary’s Meals school feeding programmes

Backpacks are filled with stationary (a pencil case, notebook pens, pencils, crayons, a ruler, a sharpener, an eraser), clothing (for ages 4-12; a dress or t-shirt, shorts or a skirt, & flip-flops or sandals), hygiene items (toothbrush, toothpaste, towel & bar of soap), a small ball, plus a spoon to eat their Mary’s Meals porridge with!

You can also just come along to find out more about our societies & our respective charities, & get some information about climate change & the Global food supply!

Monetary Donations

If you can't give items to donate, you can also donate using the options above

Any & all donations are greatly appreciated & will be split 50/50 between the Strathclyde Foodbank Society, working with the Glasgow NE Trussell Trust, & the Mary’s Meals sponsored school in Malawi.

Volunteer

We may also need helping hands for loading donations

Please let us know if you’d be interested by filling out this form!

If you would like a PDF of the items to collect, you can access one HERE

If you're not sure if an item, especially clothes, can be used in the Backpack Project or taken by the Foodbank, feel free to bring it anyway as we can take items to the Mary's Meals shop where it'll help feed more children across 19 countries!

The donation drive

It is preferable that you book a 15 minute slot to drop-off items. This is to help ensure social distancing can take place. All you need to book a slot is a name and email. If you come along without a booking, we will ask for these details- this just makes it SO much easier on the off-chance we have to do track & trace.

Do NOT attend if you are experiencing symptoms of, or have recently tested positive for, COVID-19. Please feel free to email either societies should you have donations that you would like to drop-off at a later point, and we will do our best to find a solution for you.

Please note that the Mary's Meals Backpack Project is not currently open to new projects due to a backlog in the warehouse (and there is no date as to when they will be). Strathclyde Mary's Meals began prep for their project in Summer after the opportunity re-opened after Lockdown and have arranged to do the project directly with Mary's Meals. So, if you are interested in doing your own project, please know you cannot do so currently but you are welcome to get involved with the Strathclyde Mary's Meals one. If you have any questions about this, don't hesitate to get in contact with us strathmarysmeals@gmail.com
