Ceilidh

Get ready to dance the night away! Heel, toe, heel, toe- here we f-ing go! Doors open at 7pm xo

What's occurring?

Thursday 18 August 2022 from 7.30pm until 10pm we're hosting a ceilidh in The Venue at 51 Richmond Street! (doors open 7pm)
Live music from the amazing Glasgow University Trad Group!
There will also be a raffle drawn during the evening- see the Facebook event to check out all the prizes!

Every penny will go to Strath Mary's Meals- we have a sponsored school in Malawi for which we fundraise to feed every pupil for the year. We are coming to the end of this year's goal & we are so close! It costs only £15.90 to feed a child in their place of education for a whole year.

  • £3 entry per person- you can purchase this in advance at the top of this page or at the door (with cash or card). *In the unlikely event that we reach capacity in the venue, people who have bought theirs in advance will have priority*

  • £2 for a strip of raffle tickets (5 raffle tickets)- these will only be available on the night

Any money raised above this years goal will go towards next years group of kids to be fed!

What is a ceilidh? (for our international friends)

Ceilidh is Scots Gaelic for party! & that is exactly what it is: a ceilidh (kay-lee) is a traditional Scottish dance. Most dances are with a partner but others are in groups. A ceilidh is a great way to meet new people & it is always a laugh. You don't need to worry if you don't know how to do the dances- our awesome band will be there to give you instructions. Come along & give it a go- you won't regret it!

Having financial issues?

We are very aware that there is a major cost of living crisis going on right now, and while this is a fundraiser, it is also an event that we want to be open to everyone and want everyone to enjoy. If you're keen to come along but can't afford the entry fee, just get in-touch. You can come along as a volunteer (we might ask you for a helping hand, but otherwise, just enjoy your night!) and no one will need to know any different. There is, of course, no need to be embarassed or anything like that about struggling financially right now, but if you are worried, please know we will be super discreet xoxo

If you have any questions or if we can do anything to make you feel more comfortable/make the event accessible, just get in-touch at strathmarysmeals@gmail.com xoxo

We can't wait to see you!
