What are the Best Bar None Awards?
The Best Bar None Awards process is the chance for our bars to show our commitment to a Safer, Cleaner and Better Glasgow. These awards are received upon recognition for the efforts to manage good establishments in the licensed trade. Over the last few years, the ‘Best Bar None’ Awards have identified well managed, responsible venues which use a range of best-practice ideas to ensure the safety of customers and staff.
“The Best Bar None (BBN) Initiative In Glasgow is designed to Improve licensing standards and develop best practice within licensed premises. Glasgow City Council has administered The BBN Initiative since 2005 on behalf of The Alcohol and Drugs Partnership (ADP) in Glasgow.” - Best Bar None
What category were we nominated for?
Strath Union and its venues and bars were nominated for the Specialist Entertainment Category, where we won the Gold Award. We were nominated alongside the likes of Glasgow Uni, The Hydro, Ibrox and SECC, to name a few.
All these venues were gold award winners, but Strathclyde won the overall award in that category. Which means we go through to the national awards next year.
So, what does this award mean for our students?
Winning a Best Bar None Gold Award means operate to a high standard and customer safety is our highest priority, the best bar none logo in your premises means you run your venue to a high standard.
