Strathclyde Students’ Union are delighted to announce that the highest number of nominations have been received for the 10th annual Teaching Excellence Awards.
Over 900 nominations were submitted by students who wanted to show their support and appreciation towards the University’s teaching staff.
Students across the University’s four faculties all put in a nomination for their favourite lecturer, with the category of Most Supportive Teacher receiving the highest entries. But it was the HaSS faculty who submitted the most nominations, representing 40% of the final total.
Teaching staff were nominated in three main categories: Most Supportive Teacher; Most Innovative Teacher; and Most Enthusiastic.
Nominations could also be sent in recognising the University’s PhD students, who also tutor on campus, and the Non-Teaching Support Staff, such as lab technicians and department administrators, who play an important role in students’ lives.
The full longlist of nominees can be found here.
The shortlist and results will be announced LIVE via the Union’s Facebook and Twitter during the Awards dinner on Friday 10th May.
VP Education, Eyram Selasie Ahadzie, said: “It’s exciting, and a huge honour, to be celebrating the 10th Teaching Excellence Awards, and having the highest ever number of nominations submitted makes it even more special.
“This event is always a highlight in the Union’s calendar, as it is students taking control of showing appreciation towards the University’s hard-working and dedicated teaching force.
“The longlist really does reflect on the extra effort lecturers and tutors provide for students and I can’t wait to welcome and congratulate them on the big night!”
