Strathclyde Warriors Win Box Set Binge Tournament

Imagine getting £5,000 just to binge watch your favourite television box sets.
Luckily for the Strathclyde Warriors, they got to do exactly that by winning the Amazon Prime Student Box Set Binge tournament.
Four of the Strathclyde Warriors (Ciara Owens, year 4 of Speech and Language Pathology; Heather Martin, 5th year MSc Marketing; Megan Douglas, 2nd year Law; and Kirsty Carter, 2nd year LLB Law) were invited to an all-expenses paid trip to London to go head-to-head with other dedicated box set lovers in a 10 hour binge match in March.
Watching back-to-back episodes from various Amazon Prime Video series like Mr. Robot, Transparent and Vikings, teams then had to correctly answer questions to make it into the next round.
Running between 12:30 in the afternoon to 01:30 in the morning, Strathclyde Warriors managed to beat their opposing team to the grand prize after answering the winning question on American Gods.
Strathclyde Warriors are a national championship winning cheerleading club. Consisting of four competitive teams, The Warriors also have a strong focus on charity work and being involved in the local community through a variety of fundraising and volunteering events. They have also recently hosted the first ever Scottish University Cheerleading Championships to celebrate the growth and successes of Scottish university cheerleading.
Ciara Owens, from Strathclyde Warriors, said: “Watching episode after episode of your favourite box set is a lot harder than it sounds, but we are beyond thrilled to have won the tournament. To make it down to London, we had to get online votes and the highest 10 could then compete. We really can’t thank everyone enough from the sports teams and students at Strathclyde for showing their support.
“The money will obviously go to the club. We’re hoping to spend it on resources, competition entry fees and to reduce costs for members.”
