Strathclyde launch survey to measure engagement in campus sport and active health opportunities

The last year has been incredibly tough for students and staff.

Lockdowns, restrictions, and social distancing has seen many people struggle to take part in their much-loved activities.

To understand the current landscape of sport and active health opportunities at Strathclyde, the Students’ Union and University has launched a survey to gain insight into what support students and staff need to get back involved in campus life.

By gaining an accurate picture of engagement with initiatives such as StrathActive – the University’s flagship social sport and active health programme – both Strath Union and the University will be able to identify how we can more accurately support the Strathclyde community and broaden opportunities on campus.

The survey, for all students and staff at the University, is a result of the StrathActive collaboration between Strath Union, the Sports Union, and Strathclyde Sport.

Kirsty Bannatyne, Vice President Sport said:

“There has arguably never been a more vital time to promote the benefits of an active lifestyle.

As we continue to feel the impact of COVID-19, we must encourage students and staff to participate in social sport and active health alongside their studies or work.

This survey is the latest step to bring the Strathclyde community a dynamic, well-rounded and inclusive university experience.”

Abby Irvine, Sport Development Coordinator and StrathActive project lead said:

“This is the first survey which has been specifically developed to understand the barriers from both students and staff at Strathclyde regarding engagement in campus life activities such as StrathActive.

The insight we receive will help to design our future active health programmes and support people across the student body and wider campus community to reap wellbeing benefits from regular physical activity and social interaction.”

Strath Union ask all current University of Strathclyde students and staff to fill out the survey here.  As a result of participating in the survey, we will enter you in to a prize draw to win one of three annual gym memberships. The survey will be open until Monday 6th December 2021.
