Do you want the opportunity to envisage real change within your academic studies? Do you have great ideas for resolving issues within your course but aren’t sure how to make them known? That is where our designated Programme Reps come in, they are the connecting bridge between our students and staff at the University. And now, thanks to a brand-new tool on the Union website, finding and contacting your rep is quicker and simpler than ever before.

As a Union, we understand that keeping track of all the information students receive can be overwhelming. This is especially true in the earlier years of university, where classes are large and there may be multiple representatives for the same course. While every student should be able to connect with their rep, the reality is that many haven’t had the chance to meet them yet and reaching out can feel a bit intimidating. That’s why we’ve launched a simple online tool that helps you quickly find and contact the right rep for your course. Just a few clicks, and you’re connected. It’s all about making it easier for students to get involved, speak up, and shape their academic experience.

Why our Reps matter?

The Programme Reps have made great progress in improving the academic sphere at Strathclyde. These successes include the HASS Faculty Rep having class timetables released at least a week prior to their starting date for the benefit of students, and the Physics Programme Rep introducing lab tours for students so they can make more suited choices on their projects. We want to encourage our community to continue to push for improvement so future student engagement and satisfaction continue to increase.

Making It Happen: The team behind the tool

This project came to life through successful collaboration. Two different departments joined forces, our voice and communications team to improve our student community. Their hard work, shared vision, and commitment to student representation brought this tool from concept to reality. By gathering up-to-date representative emails from every course, year, and faculty, the two teams built a tool that benefits both students and reps. This database can increase the visibility of our Programme Reps and make those important connections much easier to build.

What the Tool Does:

  • Enables users to quickly search for their Programme or Class Rep
  • Gives names, courses and contact information in seconds
  • Allows users to contact the Union directly with feedback, ideas or concerns

The tool is now live, and we want to encourage our students to try it out! Our tool directs its users to their rep’s email, so finding a point of contact is easier than ever before. As the tool is currently under testing and brand new, we’re still looking to improve. We are keen to hear from our student community their thoughts and any improvements they want to see made to enhance user experience. Please direct all comments to Karolina, our Representation Coordinator. Let us know what works, what doesn’t, and how we can make it even better. We hope this tool has improved students' ability to produce positive change within their academic careers.

By using this tool, you’re joining the community that is working together to make real change.
