Strath Union and 'ATP @ COP26' Hub on Day 3

It’s the end of Day 3 of Strath Union and 'ATP @ COP26' Hub! What a busy day it’s been again full of activities, workshops, and inspiring talks.

Remember, all students are welcome to attend events. Have a look through the programme and  simply register for free via EventBrite. There are countless opportunities to hear about projects, ways to get involved and important messages all in the name of tackling climate change.

Climate Fresk Climate Education kicked off with their first CEKO event today. Students came together for a fun and collaborative workshop based on the IPCC report. The workshop combines a game and educational aspects. Read more about Climate Fresk and the workshop here. They are hosting another workshop next week (November 10). Get your ticket here  today.

This afternoon, we heard from two incredible members of the Global Social Leaders movement how Youth Environmental Activists think globally, act socially and create positive change in their communities. Youth Environmental Activists Cherry Sung from South Korea and Tanasha Soneji from the Philippines, shared their stories and experience of climate action.  If you've missed any of the events you can catch up on the After the Pandemic YouTube page.

 

What’s on tomorrow? 

Tomorrow is set to be another full day of activities and workshops. 

Strath Union’s Climate Emergency Action Group in association with Fridays for Future and Students Organising for Sustainability, is hosting a banner making session prior to the marches on Thursday and Friday, with discussion of our role in climate action.

In a blended in-person/ online workshop, COP26 and Beyond and guests - with help from the audience - will discuss what action is still needed, regardless of the outcome of COP26 and how to best maintain the present momentum for climate action. Speakers will include  Barrister, Environmental & Energy Lawyer William Wilson from COP26 and Beyond (Glasgow), Educator Sam Wilson from COP26 and Beyond (London), and  Samuel Chijioke Okorie from Nigeria. 

 

Other COP activites and events on in your Union tomorrow

  • The Institute for Ecological Civilization and Reboot the Future are hosting a ‘Conversations for a Life Economy’ event to inspire listeners with the insights of known leaders.

  • Lego: Build The Change have a space for all visitors running all day on level 1

  • Visit the interactive game space for at the Tiny Changes corner on level 2.  With VR content from university students Human Habitats projects. 

  • RSA is hosting an online event in partnership with the Canadian High Commission, where they are joined  by Melanie Goodchild, Founder and Co-Director, Turtle Island Institute. Find out more here.

The Columbia Climate School is hosting an event to help a broader audience, especially students, understand what is happening at COP26, what countries are bringing to the table, and turn ambition into action.It will connect students in Glasgow and New York City with key leaders in energy and climate meeting in Glasgow and will be followed by informal opportunities to connect over drinks after the event.
