Strath Union closes for one night in support of anti-spiking ‘Big Night In Glasgow’ campaign

The Union will close its doors at 7pm on Thursday 28th October in solidarity with the Big Night In Glasgow campaign, which is boycotting clubs for one night to demand better prevention, welfare and support measures to be implemented for customers. We are sending a strong message to other bars and to clubs that we support this action and join the call for stronger safety measures across Glasgow.

Nesha Malone, Strath Union Vice President Inclusion, said: “As a student bar in Glasgow, we are 100% focused on student safety, we are repeat winners of the All Bar None award; members of Glasgow Taxis ‘Safe Taxi’ scheme and we piloted a ‘lids on cups’ initiative before the pandemic. We are now looking at further measures that can increase safety and we believe other bars should do the same. We want everyone to be safe in all Glasgow bars and clubs so that they can enjoy a night out without fear of attack”
